Question 1

What is an eSIM?

Accepted Answer

An eSIM is a SIM card in digital form, already built into your smartphone. Nothing physical needs swapping: scanning a QR code installs your data plan within seconds.

Question 2

Is my phone eSIM-compatible?

Accepted Answer

Newer phones generally support eSIM: this covers the iPhone XS onward, the Samsung Galaxy S20 onward and the Google Pixel 3 onward. An "Add eSIM" entry in your settings tells you for sure.

Question 3

What are the steps for using an eSIM?

Accepted Answer

After payment you are emailed a QR code; scanning it on your phone sets up the eSIM. At your destination, enable data roaming and the local network is picked up without further action.

Question 4

How soon is the eSIM activated after purchase?

Accepted Answer

Your QR code and installation guide reach you by email right after you pay. Installing takes a few seconds only. Data starts working once you are inside the coverage area of your destination and roaming is enabled for the eSIM.

Question 5

Does an eSIM cost less than roaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes, by a wide margin. A Simpartout eSIM can cost up to 90% less than the roaming charges of your operator. Plans start at €0.99, without hidden fees or automatic renewal.

Question 6

eSIM or portable Wi-Fi router: what sets them apart?

Accepted Answer

The eSIM is loaded straight onto your smartphone, so no additional gadget is required. A portable Wi-Fi hotspot (Pocket WiFi) must be picked up, recharged and handed back; the eSIM gives you mobile internet on your own phone, wherever and whenever.

Question 7

Can I turn my phone into a hotspot with the eSIM?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes: our plans generally allow tethering, so a laptop, a tablet or other devices can use your phone's connection. Bear in mind that sharing uses up your data faster.

Question 8

Which devices are compatible with eSIM?

Accepted Answer

Compatible devices include the iPhone XS and subsequent models, the Samsung Galaxy S20 and subsequent models, the Google Pixel 3 and subsequent models, and many Huawei phones. The device cannot be tied to one carrier (SIM lock). Open Settings > Mobile Data and look for an "Add eSIM" option.

Question 9

Can I keep my French number?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. The eSIM works as an additional data line. Your main SIM card keeps your usual number: you stay reachable by call and text while using the eSIM's data.

Question 10

How do I pay?

Accepted Answer

Payment is possible by bank card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express), Apple Pay or Google Pay, and Adyen secures every transaction.

Question 11

Can I get my money back after ordering?

Accepted Answer

A full refund is available as long as the eSIM is not yet installed (the QR code has not been scanned). Once it has been installed, refunds stop. Ask our support team if you need details.

Question 12

How soon will I receive the eSIM?

Accepted Answer

Payment triggers an immediate email with the QR code. Nothing has to be delivered, so you can order right before departure.

Question 13

Is one eSIM enough for several countries?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with a regional plan (Europe, Asia, etc.), a single eSIM covers several countries. See our regional plans on the Destinations page.

Question 14

What speed should I expect?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the local network you get 4G/LTE or 5G. Speeds change from one area to another yet easily cover video calls, web browsing and social networks.

Question 15

Is connection sharing possible?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes, since the majority of our plans allow tethering (hotspot). Pick the eSIM line for mobile data, then activate sharing in your phone's settings.

Question 16

Is it possible to hold more than one eSIM?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most smartphones keep multiple eSIM profiles in memory, but just one can provide mobile data at a time. Swap between them when you change destination.

Question 17

How do I know how much data remains?

Accepted Answer

Log in to the "My account" area for a live view of your remaining data, or look at the mobile data settings on your phone.

Question 18

The eSIM will not connect to the network.

Accepted Answer

Verify that roaming is enabled and the eSIM is the line used for mobile data. Turn aeroplane mode on and then off, or reboot the phone.

Question 19

My connection is sluggish.

Accepted Answer

Congestion can occur on the network at peak times or in busy areas. Try selecting another operator by hand. Unlimited plans come with a fair use policy.

Question 20

My phone shows no eSIM option.

Accepted Answer

A phone has to be unlocked before an eSIM can run on it; your operator can tell you if it is. Should the settings menu lack an "Add eSIM" option, the model might not be compatible.

Question 21

How can I reach customer support?

Accepted Answer

Write to contact@simpartout.fr and expect an answer inside 24 hours. Quote your order number to speed things up.
