Does my French mobile plan work in Jersey?

No, not automatically. Jersey is not in the European Union and is not part of the United Kingdom. European roaming agreements do not apply there, which means you can be charged very high non-EU rates. A dedicated Jersey eSIM is the cheapest and simplest solution.

How do I get to Jersey from Paris, and how do I stay connected on the way?

You can get to Jersey from Paris by taking a flight via London or by combining train and ferry from St Malo or Granville (about a 1h30 crossing). On the ferry, coverage may be limited at sea. Your eSIM will fully activate as soon as you arrive on the island, where the 4G/LTE network takes over.

Does the 4G network cover the beaches and coastal areas of Jersey well?

Yes, with 98% network coverage, Jersey's main beaches, coastal paths and villages are well served by 4G. A few very isolated inland areas or nearby islets may have a weaker signal, but most tourist sites are perfectly covered.

Do I need a power adapter to charge my phone in Jersey?

Yes, Jersey uses type G sockets (three flat pins), as in the United Kingdom. An adapter is essential if you are travelling with devices that have standard French plugs (type E). Bring one in your hand luggage so you can charge your phone as soon as you arrive.

Can I use a Jersey eSIM if I am also staying in Guernsey or Normandy?

A Jersey eSIM is specific to the island of Jersey. If you are also planning a stay in Guernsey, you will need to check whether the plan covers both bailiwicks. For Normandy (France), your standard French plan will work again as soon as you are back on European soil. Simpartout states the coverage areas on each plan page.

Jersey is an island apart: neither quite British nor French, but marked by both cultures on every street corner. Between its spectacular cliffs, golden beaches at low tide, seafood markets and preserved Norman architecture, the island has a unique atmosphere. But to make the most of St Helier, rent a bike to ride the coast or track down the best local crepe restaurants, reliable internet access is essential. With a Jersey eSIM activated from France before you leave, you arrive on the island connected, without looking for a local SIM card you will not find in Jersey's small shops.

Why an eSIM is ideal for visiting Jersey

Jersey is a self-governing Crown Dependency: it is neither in the European Union nor, strictly speaking, in the United Kingdom. A direct consequence for French travellers: your European mobile plan does not cover the island, and roaming charges can climb very fast if you are not careful. Finding a local SIM on the spot is not easy either, as the distribution network is limited on this small 120 km² territory. The local operators, Sure, JT and Airtel-Vodafone, provide 98% 4G/LTE coverage of the island, which is excellent for such a compact destination. By choosing a Simpartout eSIM before you leave Paris, you avoid billing surprises, you stay reachable the moment you step off the ferry or plane, and you navigate the coastal roads freely without worrying about the signal. Handy too for checking tide times, which are essential in Jersey.
