Does the eSIM work in the Ukrainian Carpathians?

Network coverage in the Carpathians is partial. Tourist villages such as Bukovel or Yaremche generally have a decent 4G signal, but in hiking areas and isolated valleys the network may be very limited or absent. It is strongly advisable to download your maps for offline use with Google Maps or Maps.me before venturing into the mountains.

Can I use my eSIM to access alert apps in Ukraine?

Yes, and it is one of the most important reasons to have a reliable connection in Ukraine. The official Air Alert Ukraine app (Air Alarm) needs an internet connection to work. Your eSIM lets you access it at all times, which is strongly recommended for every traveller going to the country in the current context.

Is the mobile network reliable in Kyiv and Lviv?

Yes, Kyiv and Lviv have dense, good-quality 4G coverage, provided mainly by Kyivstar and Vodafone Ukraine. In these two cities you can navigate, use public transport through dedicated apps, and stay connected without interruption. Lviv, often the first point of entry for travellers coming from Europe, is particularly well covered.

Do I need a power adapter to charge my phone in Ukraine?

No, you do not need an adapter. Ukraine uses type C and F sockets, identical to the standard European sockets used in France. You can plug in your charger directly without any extra accessory, which makes packing simpler.

Is my smartphone compatible with Ukrainian networks?

The vast majority of recent eSIM-compatible smartphones work without problems on Ukrainian 4G networks. The frequency bands used by Kyivstar and Vodafone Ukraine (notably B3, B7 and B20) are common to those deployed in Europe. Simpartout states compatibility for each available plan, so you can be sure of an optimal connection before you even leave.

From the majestic St Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv to the colourful lanes of Lviv, by way of the wild landscapes of the Carpathians, Ukraine is a destination of unsuspected richness for travellers from France. Getting around a country where Cyrillic lettering is everywhere, and where signs, menus and transport are rarely translated, takes a reliable mobile connection at all times. Google Translate, Google Maps and local booking apps become your best allies. With a Simpartout eSIM activated before you board the plane, you land in Kyiv or Lviv already connected, with no SIM counter to hunt for and no forms in Ukrainian to decipher. A simple precaution that changes everything.

Why you need an eSIM in Ukraine

Ukraine has a well-developed 4G network thanks to the three major national carriers, Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell, covering about 82% of the territory. Big cities such as Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa or Kharkiv enjoy solid, fast connectivity. But buying a local SIM on the spot means showing your passport, making sense of offers displayed in Ukrainian and queuing in a carrier shop, which is never the best way to start a trip. The current situation in the country makes being able to stay reachable at all times even more valuable: being able to contact loved ones, access real-time information or use local alert apps is a necessity, not just a comfort. An eSIM ordered from France through Simpartout guarantees instant activation as soon as you land, with no administrative steps on the ground. Essential for travelling with peace of mind.
